A Little Lush Parcel in the mail….

20140925_193432

Hello Lovelies 🙂

I was lucky enough to receive a parcel from my friend in the UK this week. A nice little package of Lush goodies!! Some of which I haven’t seen in Australia and I don’t think are available here (as far as I know) so it was a bit exciting!! Can I just say how jealous I am of  the Lush Kitchen range that is available in the UK? When is Lush going to bring that to us Aussie? When Lush??

20140925_193529

So here is a rather unplanned mini UK Lush haul 🙂 I’m not going to put prices (sorry) since they are in pounds. Do take into consideration that they may not be looking their best due to the long haul flight.. I do like the look of the new range items and I am hoping that they release some of these out here. Maybe for Christmas??

Granny Takes a Dip

Named after the Purple Gang song ” Granny Takes a Trip” which explains the rather psychedelic colours of this bath bomb. It is ginger, pepper and lemon scented. I am really looking forward to what colour the bath goes with this one. The scent is very “Lush” and not overly powerful. It definitely is a more masculine/clean scent and not flowery at all. I do like the name  too 🙂

D-Fluff Strawberry Shaving Soap

” De-Fluffed and delightful! We’ve whipped up our shaving soap with fresh strawberries, golden syrup, rosehip oil and cocoa butter to leave you silky smooth and smelling sweet”

Oooh. I have really liked the other shaving products that Lush have. I have mentioned in a previous post that I regularly borrow my husband’s Dirty Shaving Cream. It’s just so nice. I have no doubt that this will produce similar results and smell just a little more girly. It is quite thick, I would say a little thicker that Dirty. A bit marshmallow like. It does smell a lot like the Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar. I will give a proper review of this in the future.

Strawberry Feels Forever ( RRP: AU$13.50)

I’m kind of surprised that this made it without melting. It does look like it has a little, but hey looks like it recovered! This one is available in Australia, but it will obviously go nicely with my D’Fluff Shaving Soap. I like the massage bars, so this is really nice. One I have always been curious about, but never actually purchased. That’s what presents are all about right?

New Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion

A reformulated Charity pot! This is a little 10g size pot. It has a much more floral scent than the normal Charity Pot, which has a much more chocolately in  smell. A little bit lighter in texture too. It does smell delish. I think that if you are not a fan of Charity Pot (as it is at the moment) you might like this one. Not quite as heavy and like a said more floral. Plus all the money (minus GST/VAT) goes to the Charity on the lid. So you can feel all sorts of good about it!

That’s all for today. I is really fun to be able to try out some of these before they become available here. I might even have to put a request in for the African Paradise Body Conditioner I think! Hope you are all having an amazing day. Let me know if you have tried any of these in the comments below. What did you think? Any you are looking forward to trying?

Xx.

Hauling Time!!!

Hello Lovelies,

Well it has been a little while, so I felt I was due for a little Lush/ Make up Haul! I think I mentioned that I changed my hair colour recently and what’s the point of having a new colour if you can’t use it as an excuse to buy new products to try? Exactly, no point! Also it was my birthday recently so I had a little extra moolah to burn.

So here is what I bought:

20140915_121317

Daddy – O Shampoo

RRP: $12.50/100g, $22.95/250g, $32.95/500g

Lush’s purple shampoo used to keep the brassiness out of Blonde or Grey hair. Using Violets and Lemons for shine. It smells a little heady and very sweet. It reminds me of lollies, but not in a bad way and I don’t find it too over powering. It is very purple and I am interested to see how it stands up to the salon purple shampoo I have. Or is my hairdresser can tell the difference….

20140915_12105120140915_121103

Blousey Shampoo

RRP:$25.95/240g.

I will admit that the first few times I tried this I didn’t like it. I mean I liked the smell. It smells amazing, but it didn’t win me over. I decided to give it another go since my hair is a little more fragile at the moment and so far I am actually really liking the results. It is made from bananas and is quite thick in consistency, but I find I don’t need to use much.

20140915_12102420140915_121034

Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie

RRP:$32.95/200g

Happy Birthday to Me! Yes this was a birthday present to myself as I have been wanting to purchase it for awhile. Beautiful Rose scent!!!

20140915_121007

King of Skin

RRP: $12.95/95g

Another one of Lush’s products I have been wanting to try for a little while. Since spring is now here, it’s a good time to get my skin into  top shape for summer! King of Skin is a solid Body Butter that you apply to wet skin.

20140915_121128

 Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask

RRP: $16.95/75g

Love Love Love this!! My face has been feeling a bit yuck so I picked this up to fix it. Works a treat. If you haven’t tried this, run don’t walk to your nearest Lush store!!

20140915_121017

SAMPLE : H’Suan Wen Hua Hair Treatment

RRP: $19.95/225g

Another product I have been wanting to try. I just used this today and I can honestly say that it feels AMAZING. I can’t say the scent is my favourite ever, but since you put this in first then shampoo your hair it doesn’t really matter. Come payday I will definitely be adding this to more hair care routine. Leaves the hair so lovely and soft. I wish I had longer hair just so I could enjoy the results more.

I also went  to Mecca Maxima to pick up some new products.

20140915_121220

Smashbox Camera Ready CC Cream

RRP: $52

I am in need of a new BB/CC Cream and this was the one recommend to me by the girl at Mecca Maxima. I find it hard to match my skin tone as I am pale, but not pasty. I also can’t be bothered to mix foundations etc. This is a good match and looks dewy on the skin. I’ll see how I go and whether I will repurchase. So far so good though.

20140915_121231

NARS Larder than Life long-wear eyeliner in VIVA APPIA.

My first NARS purchase! Which I am a bit exited about. I haven’t had the chance to wear it yet, it is a nice bronzy rose gold colour. A little fancy for work. A nice colour all the same. Not too out there, but a bit more interesting than just brown or black.

That’s all from me today! Let me know if you have tried any of these product’s and what you thought or if there are any in particular you would like me to review. Have an amazing day!!

Lush Vanishing Cream Moisturiser Review

20140619_172832

Hello Lovelies 🙂

Today I am reviewing one of Lush’s many moisturizer’s Vanishing Cream ($39.95). To be honest I didn’t even know Lush even had a skin care range until the start of this year. This was one of my first purchases, along with Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, from Lush.  I’m not even sure why I picked it out over every thing else, but am I glad I did!!

“A low-fat lavender moisturizer that disappears into the skin, leaving nothing behind except beautifully soft skin. Wonderful on oily skin or T-Zones, this is our best selling moisturiser.” – Lush

I bought this in late January (that’s summer for me!) and it was HOT. However this moisturiser is so lovely and light weight, it didn’t melt off my face the second I put it on. It also didn’t feel too heavy either. Nice and light. It has lavender and rose water in it and is based on an old medieval remedy. It has a faint lavender smell, but it is very subtle. Nothing grandma like here!

When I first bought this, I didn’t think it would last very long, as the package size is 45g. However a little goes a long way! I only finished this up last month and I used it everyday. Morning and night. It didn’t make my skin oily and it actually felt like it helped my skin out. Using this along side the Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser, my skin was practically glowing!  It just looked healthy and clear.  I still got small spots occasionally, but smaller and they cleared up quickly. This probably had more to do with the cleanser, but it’s nice to know that your moisturiser isn’t working against you.

I love this product. It’s one of my favourite Lush products and if you haven’t tried Lush before, it’s a pretty good place to start. The only thing I will say is that if you have very dry skin, this might not be heavy enough for you. It would suit combination to oily skin types.

Anyway that’s all from me today. Hope you enjoyed 🙂

Xx.

Luxe VS Less : In Shower Body Conditoners.

20140623_170712[1]

Hello Lovelies 🙂

I’m sorry I have been a bit less frequent in my posting lately. I’ve been settling in to my new job and haven’t been able to post as much as I would like. I am getting back on track though and I’ll be scheduling posts (as soon as I get the hang of it!) to keep them more frequent.

This post is the first in (hopefully) a new series of posts I want to do. I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a huge beauty budget and I often wonder whether it is worth paying more for a product if a there is a cheaper alternative. So here I will be looking at similar products at different price points and seeing which has the most bang for your buck. Let me know if you like it and want me to keep doing them 🙂

I am going to start with th In Shower Body Conditioners. There does only seem to be two on the market (that I am aware of) Nivea’s In Shower Smooth Lotion and Lush’s Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.

I really like the idea of these in-shower products. I know that on work days I am always in a rush so moisturizing in the shower is a great time saver. I also like using them in winter with my body lotion as my skin gets quite dry. Not every day, but just when I feel my skin needs a bit of extra love.

LESS/Budget:

20140619_172849[1]

Last time I bought this I thought it was ok, but I didn’t repurchase it (not sure I even used up the whole thing…) and I couldn’t remember why. In the meantime I had purchased the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner from Lush after hearing rave reviews about it on YouTube. So I thought it would be good to try it again and see how it compared to Lush’s product.

Left: Ro's Argan Body Condition. Right Nivea In-Shower Skin Conditioner

Left: Ro’s Argan Body Condition.
Right Nivea In-Shower Skin Conditioner

It has a thicker consistency, than the Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner and has that typical “Nivea” scent to it. Which I like, it smells fresh and clean to me. Maybe because it is a cheaper product and I wasn’t so worried about wasting it, but I felt like I had to use a lot more product than with the Lush version. Nivea’s In-Shower Body Conditioner feels very much like a conditioner. Like I could just use my actual hair conditioner instead and it would feel much the same.

After I washed it off my skin did feel smooth. Although once I was out of the shower it felt a bit residue for a little. Not exactly nice. I felt like I had to wait for it to dry/soak in before I could get dress.

This isn’t a terrible product and if you’re on a tight budget it’s fine. For me it is just an ok product.

 LUXE:

20140619_173003[1]

Ro’s Argan Body Condition by Lush (RRP: $32.50/225g)

I think you all know by now how much I like anything rose scented and this does smell AMAZING. It has the same scent as the Rose Jam products from Lush. If you don’t like rose products you won’t want to get near this as the smell fills your entire bathroom. Which I love. Use it with the Godiva Solid Shampoo or Flying Fox Shower Gel to really get your bathroom smelling like flowers!

The consistency is thinner than the Nivea and little goes a long way. I made the mistake of using it like the Nivea one the first time I used it and hated it! So only use a very little bit and it feels much more luxurious that way too. It doesn’t feel as nice as Nivea when you wash it off. It has a balm like feel while skin is still wet and you can see the water beading on it. I didn’t like this feeling and it nearly put me off the product completely! Why doesn’t my skin feel instantly smooth? I thought.

However, when you step out of the shower and towel off skin feels lovely and smooth. No residue either which was much nicer than the Nivea Body Conditioner. Leaves your skin smelling amazing as well. I also noticed that after using it a few days in a row, I felt my skin really improved overall.

It does feel like a treat to use this product. The feel of it is really nice and it just smells wonderful.

To be honest, I really thought that the Nivea In- Shower Skin Conditioner would be the winner of the two products. Now after comparing it to Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner, I remember why I didn’t repurchase it the first time round. Like a cheap conditioner, it feels nice while you are in the shower, but it just doesn’t stay that way when you get out.

In this case, I would save up my money and buy the Luxe product : Ro’s Argan Body Conditioner.  I could really tell the difference in the quality of Lush’s Body Conditioner compared to Nivea’s version. I felt overall the Lush version  did much more for my skin. As well as the amazing scent. I would definitely repurchase this product.

Well there you are. My first Luxe VS Less post. I hope you enjoyed it 🙂 Let me know what you thought or any products that you would like to see me compare in the comments box below. Have an amazing day!!

A Relaxing Facial At Home

IMG_2235[1]

Hello Lovelies!

I don’t know about you, but I love a good pamper session. My skin feels so nice and doing facials regularly keeps my skin in great condition. So today I thought I would share with you my at home facial routine.

First step is to take off any make up etc. I use Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, because it is really gentle, but I don’t feel like I have cleansed my skin too much. If that makes sense. You could use a cleansing oil or whatever you prefer instead.  If my skin is feeling really yuck, I will exfoliate with the Ocean Salt Scrub ($34.95/250g) from Lush.

Next I use a Toner Tab from Lush.

Top Left: Dream Stem Tab Bottom Left: Tea Tree Toner Tab.

Top Left: Dream Steam Tab
Bottom Left: Tea Tree Toner Tab.

I love using these as it makes my facial feel just that bit more indulgent. I usually boil the kettle, let it sit a minute and then pour into a bowl. Add the steamer tab and place your face over the bowl and cover you head with a towel. Relax and let the steam do it’s work! Doing this first is a really good way to open up your pours which allows more of the good stuff to soak in.

The Dream Steam Tab ($2.50ea) is my favourite. It contains tea tree oil which acts as an anti-bacterial for your skin  as well as lavender, chamomile and rose absolute to calm redness. The Tea Tree Tab ($2.50ea) is for oilier skin types. You can also use the left over water as a toner. Keep it in the fridge and it should last a week or so.

Full of Grace.

Full of Grace.

I like to use a facial serum underneath my mask for just a little extra something. My serum of choice is Full of Grace (14.95/20g)  from Lush. Feel free to use your favourite though. I like to give my face a little massage too after I have applied it. So nice.

20140516_220045[1]20140517_231618[1]

Then I apply a good quality face mask. I love Lush’s Fresh Face Masks ($16.95/75g). My favourites so far are the Cosmetic Warrior and Catastrophe Cosmetic. Both are fantastic for when my skin is breaking out, generally feeling yuck and needs a lift. I also like The Body Shop Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub ($27.95) which gently exfoliates the skin as you scrub it off.

Then I veg out for the 5-10mins it takes for my mask to do it’s magic. A good mag or book to read and if I’m feeling super indulgent a glass of bubbly.

20140616_171658[1]

After washing off the mask follow with your favourite toner and moisturizer. Mine are both from Lush I’ll admit! I like the Eau Roma Water Toner ($19.95/250g, $9.95/100g) and Vanishing Cream Moisturizer ($39.99/45g). I also really like Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel ($29.00/50ml) which is lovely and light in texture.

The beauty of doing it at home is that you can make the whole thing as quick or as long and indulgent as you like. If I don’t have heaps of time and my skin just needs a pick me up then I will of course skip a few steps. The products can also be as budget or luxe as you like as well.

Nothing beats a little bit of “me” time! How about you? Any tips or tricks that you use for some at home pampering?

Hope you are all having an amazing day 🙂

Xx.

Lush Sakura Bath Bomb Review

20140607_150034[1]

Hello Lovelies 🙂

Today I am reviewing the Sakura Bath Bomb ($6.75) from Lush.

This bath bomb takes it’s inspiration from the Japanese Cherry Blossoms that bloom in the spring. It is speckled with blue to represent the sky and pink to represent the cherry blossoms. It has a lovely scent, made up of Jasmine, mimosa and orange blossom. There are also salt crystals in the bath bomb, but they fizz away as well.

I’m not sure what it was exactly, maybe the candle light, the steam rising up or the mood I was in, but when I put this bath bomb in my bath I was whisked away to a Japanese bath house or hot spring. That’s what it felt like. It was very relaxing.

The scent to me is a clean musky scent and lingers a little on the skin afterwards. My husband really liked it actually. My skin felt nice and soft too.

I have to say that this is one of those bath bombs that smells really strong (before being put in the bath I mean).  The scent filled my car for a day or so. I don’t mind this as I keep my bath bombs out so my bathroom smells nice!

I really liked this one and I would definitely repurchase it in future. Actually I’ll probably buy two.

I hope you are having an Amazing Day!

Xx.

A Day at the Shops….

20140607_145934[1]

Hello Lovelies 🙂

What better way to celebrate pay day than with a bit of a shopping spree! Plus it’s June/EOFY sale time so lots of bargains are about.  Too be honest, my budget is not huge so I did have to restrain myself a little (ok a lot).

My first stop was Lush because I had run out of cleanser and moisturizer. I repurchased Angels on Bare Skin which is my all time favourite cleanser and you can hear me rave all about it here. I also bought Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion and The Sakura Bath Bomb.

 20140607_150034[1]

The great thing about the Charity Pot is that 100% (minus 10% GST) of the money goes to the charity on the lid. It smells so nice. Like Chocolate or Turkish Delight. The Charity on my lid is Pedalling for Papua.

The Sakura Bath Bomb is a new one for me, though the girl in the store told me it was a re-release (?) of an older bath bomb. I had never seen it in store before but I am relatively new to Lush. It smells like the Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub and is inspired by the Japanese Cherry Blossoms that bloom once a year. It is speckled with pink and blue to represent the soft cherry blossoms blooming against the sky. Fragrance is Jasmine, mimosa and orange blossom. It is quite strong smelling, but relaxing and I can’t wait to try it out.

After chatting to the lovely girl who served me (she really was sweet), I walked out with a few samples as well.  Which were the Turkish Delight Shower Smoothie and Enzymion face mosituriser. I loved Lush’s Vanishing Cream, but I want to try out some of the others before I decide.

20140607_150118[1]20140607_150413[1]

I seem to be going through face wipes and cotton pads like crazy at the moment! I need to go to Costco and stock up again I think! I’ve been wanting to try the Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Towelettes – Sensitive  for ages. We shall see how we go. I am also super tired of Cotton Make up pads that fall apart as I pull them out of the packet, so I’m going back to the Johnson’s Pure Cotton ones.

20140607_142004[1]

There are very few things better than a new book!  We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves by Karen Joy Fowler. After hearing the review of this on ABC’s The Book Club, I thought it sounded really interesting.

And of course I need some relaxing reads for the weekend….

20140607_141929[1]

If you haven’t checked out Renegade Collective I highly recommend you do. It’s not beauty related, but it is a really smart, inspiring read with great interviews as well. It is also an Australian publication, but they are available in heaps of other countries as well.

I needed some clothes for work and found these dress on sale.

20140607_141720[2]

I got this top on sale at Sportsgirl. I was a bit unsure at first, but it has really grown on me.

20140604_160806[1]

Anyway that’s it from me! I’m off to try out my new bath bomb, have a glass of wine and read my book. Hope you are having an amazing weekend  as well!

Xx.
